The Rain in Spain stays mainly in Valencia

First SNOW now RAIN. Valencia is currently experiencing some very strange weather indeed, but some are grateful for it.

The water reserve stored in the peninsular dams has increased for the fifth consecutive time, thanks to the abundant rain that during the last days has fallen throughout Spain.

According to the Ministry of Medio ambiente, the dams have recovered during the last week 119 cubic hectometres, an increase that has benefitted mainly the reserves of the Duero, which has grown 60 cubic hectometres, whereas the reserves of the Ebro have descended 33 hectometres.

SNOW and ICE cause problems in Valencia

Manises airport registered problems with ice in the early hours of yesterday morning which forced several airplanes to leave late from the Valencian terminal. The low temperatures "had frozen" several apparatus, according to sources in "Aeropuertos Españoles y Navegacion Aerea" (AENA). The same sources informed that by noon the situation had already returned to normal. Identical problems took place in other airports like the one in Oviedo, Santiago de Compostela and Granada. The weather caused delays in the departures of airplanes from these airports. Hundreds of travellers arrived at Madrid with delays and lost their connecting flights.

The weather also caused delays in some RENFE lines, but there were no suspensions in the service. Sources at RENFE informed that first thing in the morning some delays took place, due to the accumulation of snow and ice in some sections of the rails, but at no moment was the service stopped.
