Two trains crash close to Torrent and Valencia

The mayor of Picanya, Josep Almenar, explained today to EFE that one of the two trains on line 1 of the Valencia Metro which collided was apparently, stopped by a failure when the other train collided behind.

Mayor Almenar, who travelled to the scene, confirmed that the driver of one of the trains is the person who has suffered the greatest casualties. The slightly wounded are being taken care of in the Paiporta Health Center, close to the location of the accident, whereas the severely wounded have been transferred to the General Hospital in Valencia.

The collision took place at 10:30 am and caused the derailment of both trains. According to the Generalitat, the collision has been very strong, and has completely destroyed the cabins of both trains. Luckily at the time of the collision both trains were circulating on a section of the line that is above ground. Line 1 of the metro, which unites the populations of Llíria and Bétera and Villanueva de Castellón, has interruptions between the stations of Valencia Sud and Torrent.

Valencia property prices keep rising

Developers in Valencia forecast property prices to continue rising for next three years According to the Technical Institute of Construction (AIDICO), developers in the Valencian region expect property prices to continue rising for the next three years, albeit at a reduced rate compared to recent years. This expectation of further price rises is based on present low interest rates, robust economic growth in Spain, increasing immigration and continued demand for holiday homes and retirement homes among European buyers.
