VALENCIA GRAND PRIX 2008

Spain’s second Grand Prix has been confirmed for 2008 with the announcement that the European Grand Prix will be held on the streets of Valencia.

The Hermann-Tilke designed track will chart a course around the city’s Americas Cup port. The city announced a seven-year deal with Bernie Ecclestone today.

It will be the first time that F1 has visited two true street circuits in a year since 1991, when races were held at Monte-Carlo, Monaco and Pheonix, United States.
When the beautiful Mediterranean coast collides with fun-loving Spaniards you are bound to have a good time. But when you take that and combine it with a challenging new street course, F1 fans have just found another favourite race!

Setting the stage for the 2008 European Grand Prix, Valencia appears to be, dare we say it, a sister race to the Monaco Grand Prix. No longer can Monaco boast the only street course, let alone alongside a harbor, on the F1 calendar.

Valencia`s new street circuit will be based harbor-side around America`s Cup Port, which currently houses the America`s Cup sailing event. Sailing, cycling, diving, golfing, racing, you name it! Valencia loves sports! Located along the Mediterranean Sea and blessed with good weather year-round, Valencia is draped with sun-kissed beaches and azure blue waters.
