VALENCIA TO CONSOLIDATE LAND LAWS

CURRENT LEGISLATION GOVERNING THE AREAS OF URBANISATION, TERRITORY AND HOUSING WITHIN THE VALENCIA REGION WILL BE CONTAINED WITHIN ONE SINGLE DOCUMENT FROM 2006 UNDER PLANS BEING PUT FORWARD BY THE VALENCIA GOVERNMENT.

Its aim is to give each law a common criterion and unify many of the existing regulations to make legislation more manageable.

At present, there are five laws that come under the control of the territories and housing council, these being the Ley del Suelo No Urbanizable (LSNU), Ley de Ordenación del Territorio y Protección del Paisaje (LOTPP), Ley Reguladora de la Actividad Urbanística (LRAU), Ley de Ordenación de la Edificación (LOE) and Ley Valenciana de la Vivienda.

All of these are recent laws except for the LRAU, which is soon to be replaced by the Ley Urbanística Valenciana (LUV). Regional territories and housing chief Rafael Blasco has ordered that the new document, being prepared by judicial consultants in Valencia, be ready by 2006.
